In 5 days 4 nights, we will visit several islands in the archipelago of Wakatobi Regency. We will live in the middle of the village and will learn directly with the indigenous people about how cultural wisdom inherited from our ancestors is able to create harmony between humans and the natural environment. In addition, participants are also expected to be able to understand the connection between marine ecosystems and life in cities, participate in maintaining and conserving coral reefs, and be able to apply sustainable lifestyles for a better future for the earth.
Day 1
The main route to enter the TNW area is Wangi-Wangi Island or known as Wanci. This area can be reached via a flight from Jakarta to Makassar and continued to Wangi-Wangi. Travel to explore the area will be done by sea travel from one island to another. The big islands to be visited include Wangi-Wangi Island, Kaledupa, Tomia, and Binongko as well as other smaller islands.
Day 2
The journey begins by visiting Liya Togo Village. This tourist village is the only one in Southeast Sulawesi that has made it into the top 50 best tourist villages at the 2021 Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI). This tourist village also offers us the experience of seeing the daily lives of local people, such as seaweed cultivation (the largest in Northern Sulawesi).
Day 3
We will sail to Tomia Island. Here we will visit Kulati Village and meet a local community named Poassa Nuhada. We will see their actions in managing ecotourism in Kulati Village. The diverse and beautifully combined coral reefs are the main attraction for the island of Tomia. The coastline and the cave-like structure of the island add to the uniqueness of this island.
Day 4
We will go to Binongko Island. The last island of Wakatobi, not only saves underwater charm, but also offers a land charm that is no less beautiful. The composition of rocky hills that surround the island, clean white beaches, and trees that grow around the island are the main attractions of this island. Then we will be back to Wangi-wangi for the night.
